Test Time: 10 Minutes.   Technologists uses state-of-the-art Color flow Doppler unit to image arteries.

Purpose: Evaluate any buildup of fatty plaques in the carotid arteries that can lead to strokes.

Facts: Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. 75% of all strokes are associated with carotid artery plaques. 50% of all strokes happen in people with NO SYMPTOMS!

                                         AORTIC  ANEURYSM  SCREEN (AAA)                                                                 $45

Preparation: Fast (no food or drink) for 4-6 hours prior to test.  Test Time: 10 minutes

Purpose: AAA is the weakening and ballooning of the main artery in the abdomen.  Technologist uses ultrasound to  image!

Facts:  AAA’s are  4x more common in men than in women.  Ruptured AAA’s are the 9th leading killer of American men over 55.  Arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) is a factor in 95% of AAA’s.    AAA is difficult to diagnose because the majority of victims have NO SYMPTOMS!

                                  PERIPHERAL VASCULAR   DISEASE  SCREEN    (PVD)                                                 $45

Preparation:  Remove socks and shoes.

Test Time:  10 minutes  Testing systolic pressures in arm and legs

Purpose: PVD is the  narrowing of blood vessels in legs and sometimes arms.  This narrowing is caused by hard plaques along the walls of the arteries called “Atherosclerosis.”

 Facts: 4-5 times more likely to die from heart disease if you have peripheral arterial disease.  High risk people are smokers, diabetics, and folks with high blood pressure.  Diabetic PVD is responsible for 50% of all extremity  amputations! FEW SYMPTOMS!

Preparation :Remove shoe and sock.                                                                                                                                               

Test Time: 5 minutes

Purpose: Identify persons at risk for this debilitating disease.
